Animals Sound Different in Many Languages

As I was browsing through my WordPress reader, I fell upon Doug Pete’s post about this tumblr he found on animal sounds around the globe: Soundimals. I thought this was very interesting and entertaining to look at, it would be something I would definitely show my students at an elementary level. It also touches the cultural diversity aspect we are currently looking at in my ECS210 class. We had to read ten short stories in The New Teacher Book and one story was about English Second Language Learners and how it was important and respectful to incorporate some of their native tongues in class. This Soundimals Tumblr could be a way to show kids how animals sounds are different from one culture/language to another while being fun, constructive and appealing to the eye. Let’s face it, the images are really cute! tumblr_muh4due1UK1rcljqpo1_1280
